How to Apply for NEET 2017
NEET 2017 Online Registration is now over. Candidates who have not submitted the applications by the last date have missed the chance to appear for NEET. NEET Form Correction window is now open to enable the candidates can rectify the errors made during the registration process. They can edit the application form for NEET 2017 on the official website till March 12, 2017.
Candidates cannot edit the details mentioned during the NEET 2017 Registration. They can edit information such as choice of exam center, the medium of examination, category, gender etc. during NEET 2017 Application Form Correction. They may also have to submit an additional fee if change in the category is done only in online mode.
NEET 2017 Online form is available on the NEET official site i.e., cbseneet.nic.in. Candidates can apply for NEET 2017 in online mode only. Last date to apply for NEET 2017 is March 01, 2017. All candidates must possess a valid aadhaar number, aadhaar enrollment number or registration number by CBSE facilitation centres to apply for NEET 2017.
NEET Application Process is a 5-step process. The candidates have to initially register on cbseneet.nic.in. Then fill the personal, academic and communication details in the application form followed by uploading the photo and signature. Candidates can fill the NEET 2017 Application Fee via online mode only using UPI app/debit card/credit card/net banking facility of any nationalized banks. The application fee for General category is INR 1400/- and INR 750/- for SC/ST/ PwD category candidates.
How to Apply for NEET 2017?
In order to complete the NEET Application Form, candidates must follow the steps given below:
New Registration
- Visit the official website.
- On the left side of home page, candidates will see options like, ‘Apply Online’, ‘Candidate Login’ and ‘Forgot Registration Number’
- Applicants should click on ‘Candidate Login’,
- If the applicant has forgotten their password, they need to click on ‘Forgot Password’ on the candidate log-in page. The details to be filled out to recover the password will be as in the following image
- If the candidate has forgotten their registration number, they should click on ‘Forgot Registration Number’ on the official website and fill out the necessary details. The page will look like this:
- If the candidate is a new user or is registering for the first time, they will click on ‘Apply Online’ on the official web site.
- A new page will open which would list important instructions for the application form. At the bottom of the page, the candidates will see a button flashing, ‘Proceed to apply Online NEET 2017’. Applicants will click on this button.
- A new page will open which would have the instructions related to filling the application form. Candidates have to click on ‘I agree’ and ‘Submit’ to proceed further.
- Candidates will fill the required information and click on ‘Submit’ if they are satisfied with their entry or will click on ‘Reset’ to make changes. The box will look like this
- The candidate will successfully register and will be required to log-in on their candidate profile to start filling the application form.
- After the filling the details, click on ‘Next’ to proceed or can click on ‘Reset’ if they are not satisfied with the information or want to make any changes.
Uploading Images
- Once the candidate clicks ‘Next’, they will be taken to the next step of uploading the documents.
- Candidates have to upload their passport size photograph, signature and Right Hand Index Finger Impression.
- The candidate should ensure that the documents are as per the instructions and are uploaded in their provided space. After this the programme will automatically take the candidate to next step of application process.
Payment of Fees
- Candidates will make the payment of application fees by choosing the payment mode most appropriate for them.
Printing the confirmation page
- After the payment of application fees, candidates will be redirected to the last step where they will print the confirmation page. This confirmation page must be kept by the candidate as a proof of fees payment and future references.
- Printing the confirmation page means that the application has been submitted. If the candidate cannot see the confirmation page, it means that they have skipped one of the steps.
Instructions to fill NEET 2017 Application Form
Candidates before filling the application form must read the following pre-instructions for the application process of NEET 2017. In order to fill the application form successfully and without delay, candidates must make the following preparations:
Required information to fill NEET form
- The candidates must check the eligibility criteria before filling the Application Form.
- Candidates should ensure that the details mentioned such as their name, name of their father/ mother, date of birth, correct address, mobile number and e-mail id in the NEET 2017 Application form should correctly match with the particulars in the identification documents.
- All the applicants are responsible for providing correct information such as postal address, contact details, email id and mobile number. The Board will not be responsible for any incorrect address or contact details in the application form.
- One candidate can send only one application form. If done otherwise, the candidate’s candidature is liable to be cancelled. Also, incomplete application forms will be summarily rejected.
Photographs and Signature requirements
- Candidates must scan their latest passport size photograph (size of 10 Kb to 100 Kb). The photograph must have a white background clearly indicating the name of the candidate along with the date of taking the photograph.
- Signature (size of 10 Kb to 100 Kb) and Right Hand Index finger impression (size of 3 Kb to 20 Kb) in JPG format only.
- At the examination centre during NEET 2017 Examination, the Centre Superintendent will collect the candidate’s post card size (4”x6”) photograph affixed on Performa. It is important that the photo has been taken on or after 01.01.2017, clearly indicating the name of candidate along with the date of taking the photograph.
- On the reverse side of the photograph, candidate must mention their name, Application Form number, roll number of examination.
- Candidates must bring additional copies of passport size photographs, clearly indicating the name of candidate along with the date of taking the photograph.
- Photograph should not have cap or goggles. Spectacles are allowed if being used regularly. Applications without clear photographs are liable to be rejected.
- For Signature, candidates have to upload their signature in the appropriate box given in the online Application Form in running hand writing. Writing full name in the Box in Capital letters would not be accepted as signature. Doing so can lead to cancellation of the application form.
Guidelines to Upload NEET Photo and Signature
All the candidates have to upload their photograph and signature in the required specifications while filling the NEET 2017 Application Form. All the applicants must upload a color photograph (preferable against a white background) and a scanned image of their signature. Image specifications will be displayed on the screen itself. Photograph must be taken after January 1, 2017. Let’s check out how we can prepare images for uploading based on the required specifications provided by CBSE.
- To upload, candidates must scan the images of their recent passport size photograph and signature. All the images should be clear and visible.
- Go to the image files in the sytem and right click on them to open with “MS Paint”.
- Once the file is opens up in Paint, click on the “resize” button in the ribbon.
- A “Resize and Skew” pop up window will appear on the screen
- In the pop up window, select “pixels” radio button and uncheck the “Maintain aspect ratio” option.
- Enter the desired Horizontal value and Vertical value for the candidate’s image and signature and click on “OK” button.
- Save the image with requisite name and format (JPEG/JPG) by clicking on the menu button on the top left of paint window.
- In case the modified image is not as per the required size, applicants can use any online software such as https://tinypng.com/ or any other site to compress images within the requisite size.
- You can then login on the NEET official website and then browse to the location where you have saved the photograph and signature.
NEET 2017 Application Fee
Candidates have to pay the application fee in order to submit the NEET Application Form successfully. Payment of fees is an important step in the NEET Application Process, failure to do so will lead to incomplete application.
Application Fees
- The application fees for General/ OBC candidates is Rs. 1400/-. The application fees for SC/ ST/PH is Rs. 750/-.
- Apart from the examination fees, candidates also have to pay the service/processing charges online payment of fee through Debit/Credit Card/e-challan/Net Banking/e-wallet (CSC) along with Service Tax as applicable by the respective banks.

Mode of Payment
Candidates can choose any one of the payment methods mentioned below:
- Online gateway through debit/credit card
- E-challan either by depositing the fees in CBSE’s Bank Account in Syndicate Bank, State Bank of India, ICICI Bank or HDFC Bank directly or the candidate can download the e-challan form from the official website.
- Net-Banking
- E-wallet through Common Service Centre (CSC)
Important points regarding Application Fees
- After the application fees has been paid, candidates must print the confirmation page of the application.
- If the candidate has paid the fees through e-Challan and cannot see the confirmation page, they will send a copy of e-challan to the Board on the e-mail id- aipmt.cbse@nic.in or through fax no.011-22509251 within 04 days from the last date of the online application form.
- Candidates must note that claims for refund of application fee will not be entertained.
- No representation from the candidates regarding double payment of fee or any other issue related to fee will be entertained after 30 days from the last date of the submission of online application.
Details required for Filling Application form
Candidates have to fill some important details in order to complete the application form. To apply for NEET, candidates require the following details:
- Candidate’s name, their Father’s and Mother’s name as stated in High School Certificate of Board/University
- Nationality
- Self-Declaration Form: This form will be auto-generated by the candidates belonging to Telangana, Jammu & Kashmir and Andhra Pradesh claiming 15% seats. Candidates will see this form at the time of filling the application form and it will look like the image below:
- Gender
- Category
- Aadhaar Number (Optional)
- District of Birth
- Father’s/ Guardian’s/ Mother’s Occupation: Candidates will choose from a list of Codes set for respective occupation. The list is as follows:
- Father’s/Guardian’s/Mother’s Educational Qualifications: Candidates will select from following Codes set for respective qualification. The list is as follows:
- Father’s/Guardian’s/Mother’s total annual Income: Candidates will select from following Codes set for respective Income. The list is as follows:
- Question Paper Language.
- Are you the only child of your parents (If you are the only child of your parents and there are no other siblings, then write 1 in this column otherwise write 2 in the column)
- Year of Class XII passed/appearing.
- Percentage of marks/Grade in class X & XII.
- Type of Institution of class XII.
- Belonging to Rural/Urban area.
- State to which the applicant belongs: Candidates will select from a list of Codes set for respective State. The list is as follows:
- Qualifying examination code: Candidates have to choose the code applicable to them.
- School Education Board: Candidates have to select from a given set of Codes for respective Boards. The List is as follows:
- Choice of Examination Centre: Candidates will select from appropriate code for respective State and City. The list is as follows:
