As per NEET 2017 Paper Analysis, the exam was relatively easier, as questions were directly from NCERT. The weightage of Class XI and Class XII was equal in the exam this year. For most of the students, Physics section was the toughest, while Chemistry and Biology were of easy-moderate difficulty level.

Detailed NEET Exam Pattern 2018
Exam Mode
- NEET 2018 is conducted in an offline mode (Pen and Paper based mode).
- Candidates are provided with OMR sheet on which they have to fill their responses.
- Only ballpoint pen is to be used while marking responses.
- Candidates are prohibited to bring in their stationery.
- All the required material is provided at NEET exam centers.

- There are a total of 3 section in the question paper viz. Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
- Biology section in NEET is further divided into Zoology and Botany.

- Questions in the medical examination are objective type i.e. multiple choice questions.
- There will be four choices to question.

Time Duration of NEET Exam
- The total duration of NEET 2018 is 3 hours (180 minutes).
- Candidates must adhere to the time limit and try to finish the paper in time.
NEET Marking Scheme
- Each question in NEET test paper will carry 4 marks.
- For every correct response, the candidate is awarded 4 marks.
- In case of wrong answer, there is a penalty of 1 mark.
- For unattempted questions, there is no negative marking.
- In case, a candidate marks two answers to a question, it will be treated as a wrong answer and there will be a penalty of 1 marks. Hence, candidates are required to select one option out of the four.
Medium of exam
Candidates are required to fill their preferred language while filling NEET 2018 Application Form. Once the form is saved and submitted, they cannot change the language.
- Candidates choosing English language will get question paper booklet in English only.
- Candidates choosing Hindi as a language will get bilingual question booklet in Hindi and English.
- Candidates choosing any vernacular language will also get bilingual question booklet in that language and English.
- If any ambiguity occurs in translation of language then its English translation would be treated as final.

- The Physics paper in NEET 2018 will have 45 questions.
- Lasy year, the Physics section had 10 questions of easy difficulty level, 27 questions were of moderate difficulty level and 8 questions were of difficulty level.
- For each correct answer, a candidate will score +4.
- For each incorrect answer, a candidate will lose -1.

There are some important things which a candidate must keep in mind on the examination day. Some general guidelines and instructions have been provided below –
- Test Centre will open 2 hours and 30 minutes before the commencement of the exam.
- Candidates would have to be present at the exam centre by 9:30 a.m.
- No candidate will be permitted inside the test centre after 9:30 a.m.
- They must carry the admit card with and produce it upon asking at the Exam Center.
- They must reach the exam hall with a post card size photograph duly affixed on the admit card and the Performa attached.
- They must not carry any of the prohibited items inside the exam hall.

NEET 2018 Test Booklet
NEET 2018 Test Booklet will contain the objective-type questions. Any kind of tampering the booklet before the start of the exam will lead to serious action against candidate.
Some important points about NEET 2018 Test Booklet are given below:
- The candidate will be given a sealed Test Booklet fifteen minutes prior to the beginning of the exam.
- As soon as the candidate gets the Booklet, he should fill in all the details on the cover using the Ball Point pen provided at the Exam Centre.
- The candidate must not open the Test Booklet unless told by the Invigilator.
- The instructions for opening the Test Booklet will be provided five minutes before the commencement of the examination.
- The candidate should take out the Answer Sheet carefully and check that the Test Booklet Code printed on Side-2 of the Answer Sheet is the same as that printed-on Test Booklet.
- In case of any discrepancy, the candidate must immediately report it to the invigilator and ask for a replacement.
- The candidate should fill in his details with the ball point pen on both the sides.
- After the invigilator indicates that the test has begun, the candidate can start the test.
- Before leaving the exam hall, the candidate should hand in the answer sheet to the invigilator.
