Valium is the marketing name of diazepam. It belongs to the family of benzodiazepine. This class of drug is known for producing the calming effect in the human body. The valium drug is used to treat the following

Special notes must be taken if one has suicidal tendency, glaucoma, breathing issues, seizures, any drug addiction, alcohol addiction, depression and mental illness. Important point is when one is pregnant and getting treated for anxiety, muscle spasms or alcohol withdrawals with valium, the unborn gets dependent on the drug. This can be hazardous as the child can have life threatening problem in the process of withdrawal of the drug.

How long does the valium effect stay in the human system?

This drug valium can really stay longer in the human system. The drug can be detected in one’s body for up to 23 days from the last dose. The duration mainly depends on the person’s age, health, weight and even their body metabolic rate. In normal use of valium it can be detected in 5- 7 days, where as in chronic use of the valium, it can have a longer period for detection. It takes 100 hours for the terminal elimination half-life of the drug from the body.
