Uttarakhand Assembly Elections Candidate List 2017

The assembly elections in Uttarakhand are going to be held in single phase on February 15, 2017. the results will be announced on March 11, 2017.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has released the list of candidates contesting in Uttarakhand Assembly elections 2017.The list includes 12 former Congress leaders who recently joined BJP.Former state Congress chief and minister Yashpal Arya and his son Sanjeev Arya are going to contest from Bajpur and Naintal reserved seat respectively. Former Uttarakhand chief minister Vijay Bahuguna's son Saurabh Bahuguna will contest from Sitarganj Assembly constituency. Kedar Singh Rawat has bagged nomination from the Yamunotri Assembly seat.

The Indian National Congress Party which is in power in Uttarakhand is fighting its arch rival the BJP a do or die battle in Uttarakhand. The Congress is fighting under Harish Rawat the chief minister of Uttarakhand and has released two lists of candidates in which many old sitting MLAs have been given though some tickets have gone to the new candidates as well. The congress loyalists and veterans in the state like Indira Hirdyesh, Surendra Singh Negi Dinesh Aggarwal, while chief minister would be contesting from two seats of Kichha and Haridwar Rural. 


Mantri Prasad Naithani and Harish Durgapal the two PDF members who had rebelled from the BJP have been given Congress tickets. With their candidature the difference of opinion between the chief minister Harish Rawat and state Congress chief Kishore Upadhyay who was opposed to it was resolved as they were deemed winning candidates.

The Bahujan Samaj Party[BSP] has announced to contest seats in the Assembly elections in the state.

The Rashtriya Lok Dal Party(RLD) has announced to contest 15 seats in the Assembly elections in the state.
